Are Christians under the Law?

The law was given by God to the Israelites. But has the law nothing to do with Christians? Why does Jesus say that He didn't came to destroy the law? In this study I try to find the balance what is and is not applicable to Christians.

The gospel according to John

The bible exist of many books. The first part is called 'Old Testament', the second part 'New testament'. The gospel according to John is the fourth book of the New Testament. In the Old Testament we find the story of the creation and the sin fall, but foremost we find the story of Gods people Israel. The New Testament begins with what we call: the four gospels, the fourth was written by John. Gospel means 'happy message'. These gospels tells us who Jesus is and how He lived on this earth, died, but also how He became alive again. All four gospels have their own character. John shows us very clearly the love of God for mankind. Furthermore there are stories in the New Testament about the apostles (followers of Jesus) and letters which are send to Christians. Those Christians gathered in groups, which were called congregations or churches. At the end there is the book Revelations. Jesus shows there i.e. the future. This is not an easy book, because it is written -like some people say- in a kind of code. Much is however, especially after some bible study, not very difficult to understand.

What should I do to get to God

In one of the books of the bible, Paul writes: “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”

When you believe that God exists, and that Jesus made it possible for you to reconcile with God, you agree heartily to those words of Paul.
Ask Jesus to come into your life. Ask forgiveness to God for everything what was not according to His will. And the blood of Jesus will cleans you from everything which was wrong. Then you are reconciled with God.

This, and more, you can read at the web page: What should I do to get to God?

Who is Jesus and why He became Jesus?

The answer we can find, of course, in the bible. Reading the bible is the best thing you can do to get an answer on whatever question you have about God and Jesus. To help you to find a fast answer to the question who Jesus is and above that why He became Jesus, I wrote this small bible study.

The fundamental basics of faith.

In his letter to the Hebrews the apostle Paul wrote something about the foundation of the christian faith.
The foundation must be there to be build upon. When you start to do bible studies which are meant for spiritual more adult christians, there must be a good foundation.
When a house is built, the walls are built on the foundation, not aside and not at all without a foundation, otherwise the house collapse with the first gust of wind (resistant's).
So, it is no use to start a bible study which looks probably attractive, when there is no solid foundation laid.

Take your time to study the foundation of the christian faith first before you start studying other bible studies.

How Jesus conquered satan we all know, as believers. Jesus conquered satan on the cross. But why was that so? This small bible study is covering that subject.

What is the Word of God?

Our ideas about God, where do they come from?
There is only one source to base our knowledge God, that's the bible. It is also called: The Word of God. But the Word of God is more then a source of knowledge. It gives us also guidelines for life. Gods Word is powerful and cleansing. Above all, the Word of God is also a person, because Jesus is the Word and became man. You can gain insight as a (non) Christian with this small study.

That's a question which bother a lot of people. In this small bible study we are going look into this subject. It is not an in-depth study. Yet it gives a lot to think over and it helps you to recognize attacks of the devil.

The spritual armour of God.

We can learn there is spiritual warfare when we read the book of Daniel. Armies of God battling against armies of satan. But that we also can be involved with spiritual warfare is less known. Paul explains us in Ephesians 6 we do not have to fight against flesh and blood but against heavenly armies guided by the devil. He explains we have to put on an armour. An armor which is given by God. In this short study we are discussing this armour.

Tithing, is that also for Christians?

A lot of people find it difficult to know how much they have to give to their church (or congregation). It is the Old Testament which speaks about tithing. Is it, because it is written in the Old Testament, that this rule of God is "Old"? Or is this tithing also for the New Testament believers? In this small study we go more in-depth to that question.

The whole story of the bible compressed.

Why did the great King of the universe have to become human? This question and many others are answered in the bible. It is a book, written by people, but inspired by God, with a lot of stories. Because of the number of stories the main theme of the bible can only be recognized when you read the whole bible several times. To make it a bit easier to see the whole picture, you can read the compressed story here.

What does God wants to teach us through the festive days?

It seems so old, the Old Testament. Of course it is old. Thousands of years old, but yet is it very timely, especially for us, modern christians. When you are looking at the 'Holy days of the Lord', like they are called, you will see it is not only about something God established thousands of years ago and gave to the Israelites. These feast are in their meaning for us also very timely. Beside the literal meaning, which is still in force, there is also a spiritual meaning. That, also, is still in force.

Signs of the End of Age

What would we eagerly know the future. In almost every magazine we can find a horoscope, but God doesn't think that's the right way to us. He even forbid us to be confronted with that. Happily the bible gives us directions for the future. The Kingdom of God has everything to do with the future. But there is also a lot revealed in the bible about the time before the Kingdom of God will be there.

Jesus told us certain things about that time. The part of the bible which tells us about that time is also called 'Signs of the End of Age'. That's what this bible study is about.

Does the church not go through the great tribulation?

This is a subject regularly questions are asked about. On its own this is not a subject through by, when you study this, you can have a better relationship with God. Nevertheless it is important that we have any idea the church is going through the great tribulation or not. When you think something will not happen in your life you're not prepared when it happens after all. That's not a good attitude for a christian. We have to be alert. Those who claim the church is not going through the great tribulation mention a number of items from which we will examine the four most important ones. We will also learn a little bit about Islam is involved

What is Gods plan with Israel?

Israel is a people that is often in interest. Most times we hear or read negative news. It is really unbelievable how often that small country is in the news.
Because we hear so much about them, good and less positive news, and because we have our opinion about that, you should almost forget it's not only about people, but about the people of God.
The Jews, who live now in Israel, are only a small part of Gods people. The people, like we know from the bible, is many times bigger then the people who are living now in Israel. And God has plans with all of His people. All those plans are in the bible. Plans that will slowly be worked out.
It is good to know about Gods plans. In this bible study we will look to His plans with Israel. But we also discus the perspective between congregation, church, to Israel.

That doesn't seem a difficult question. Almost every Christian will say, that's the church. But on what is this answer based? And is it right? In this bible study we go in to that and I think you find the result surprising.

What should it be: Sabbath or Sunday?

When you are serious in studying the bible, and are looking for Gods will, it is almost for sure you ask yourself: Is it Gods will that I'am a Christian like I am now? There is so much in the bible what you do or think different then it is written. In the course of ages there were great scholars whom resolved that things has to be seen as they did. Yet it is not so long ago that for instance Martin Luther dared to resist the established order. With other words: not everything stands firm as often is thought. You have your own responsibility to find out how things are according the bible. You are doing that, of course, with the knowledge you have and the light God will give you. In that way I run to the question where this study is all about. Study this subject for a while and ask God what He expect from you. And do that of what you think God will be pleased about, just like a father is pleased about the reactions of a child to his educated life lessons.

Parallels between Daniel and Revelation

Parallels between Daniel and Revelation
A Bible study with, for many, a surprising conclusion.
For one person a certain bible study is easy and for the other it is almost out of comprehension. To find something easy has a lot to do with your knowledge in general of the bible, but also: how long are you already studying in the bible. When we want to know something more about the relation between the Old and the New Testament, the studies will be, in general, more pithy. And when we include, above all that, the book Revelation, it is not simple at all. I'am aware of that, that's why I tried to handle this subject in such a way the average believer can follow this well. And if it is going against you a little, just go a little bit backwards and read everything calm again. Most times it will be more clear. Daniel had very interesting dreams. God gives through these dreams an image of the future. Some parts of that dreams were for the short term, consequently for the time Daniel was living in. Others were for the medium long period, so that was for the time after Daniel lived, but before the time we are living. And others are for the long term, the time of the end, the last days. The interesting thing is, there is a great resemblance with the book Revelation. And that's what this bible study is all about. To make this study a bit more conveniently arranged, I put the texts aside each other on text sheets.

The chosen ones

This is a difficult subject for a lot of Christians. For me it was not that hard to believe that I belonged to the chosen ones. I knew for sure to be a son of God, but not every believer is so sure. To them I started thinking about this issue. While I was doing that it intrigued me that, although this issue so often in the Bible, I didn't not quite knew what it meant. Years ago I started to think this subject over, but I didn't grab it. Every time I put it away and every time I took it up again. All notes and texts I had written were unstructured. Ultimately the light of the Holy Spirit broke through and I saw how the Bible declares itself on this topic. I hope that this study is helpful for you too.

The problem with the dividing-in-three in Revelation.

Of course it is the way you look at it. For someone this is a problem, for the other one not. Personal I have some trouble to believe that the largest part of Revelation is not applicable for the believers of this time. Beside this, more or less emotional problem, I think there are clear indications that after chapter 4 things happen believers will go through while they are still on earth. In other words: Is the aimed dividing-in-three correct?
